private classes at city mud

If you’re looking for a hands on instruction with one of teachers, we offer private classes at the studio! Our private classes are great for people whose schedules don’t align with our 6 week classes, or for people who prefer learning in smaller groups.

We offer both hand-building and wheel throwing private classes. Both types of class are 2 hours long, and include 2 finished pots which we glaze and fire for students after the class.

For more information on specific classes see below, and to schedule use our scheduler to the right of this page.

For larger groups, reach out to hello@citymud.com to learn about our private event options.

Classes may be cancelled with a full refund minus processing fees up to 72 hours before the class begins. You can cancel via the confirmation email received after booking. Past this window, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds for cancellations!

Handbuilding classes

We can teach up to 6 people in a private hand- building class at the studio. Each group can choose one technique to learn together from our menu of handbuilding lessons below:

  • Slab built travel mugs from stencils with underglaze painting

  • Slab built flower vases with underglaze painting

  • Set of 4 incense holders or candle holders

  • slump platters with underglaze painting

  • coil made salt and sugar jars

All classes are 2 hours long, and students can keep 2 pots per person under 8x8x8” (or all four if choosing the incense/candle holders). Pots larger than 8x8x8” will count as 2 pots. We will glaze and fire the pots and email you when they are ready for pick up anywhere from 2-4 weeks post class!

Wheel classes

We teach either 1 or 2 people in our wheel throwing private classes. In the class we show students the basics of throwing on the wheel. The wheel throwing private classes are suitable for beginners or intermediate students.

The classes are 2 hours long and include 20 minutes of clean up. Students can keep 2 pots per person which we will glaze and fire after the class. Pots will be available for pickup 2-4 weeks after the class!
